Guitar Faculty members participate in Calcutta International Classical Guitar Festival

The 8th Calcutta International Classical Guitar Festival was held at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) from 14-17 December. This prestigious festival attracts aspiring concert guitarists, teachers, amateurs and guitar lovers of all ages from all over the country. The Bangalore School of Music was well-represented by three teachers and three students, namely, Deepak Ponmudi, Roshan Stephen Paul, Nandini Sudhir, Sunil Parameswaran, Soujanya Nelavagilu and Aahana Honnadi, being one of the youngest participants of the festival. This unique and inspiring festival provided the best learning experience for the participants from the BSM by combining intensive masterclasses and workshops with an outstanding concert series presented by world-class classical guitarists. This year’s edition also included a guitar competition organized by Instituo Cervantes, New Delhi and the Embassy of Spain in India. Nandini, Sunil and Roshan had the opportunity to compete in the presence of internationally acclaimed guitar masters. The exceptionally talented artistes who were present at the festival were Marcin Dylla (Poland), Pavel Steidl (Czech Republic), Johannes Moller (Sweden), Miguel Trapaga (Spain), Le Maestrio (France) and Pandit Vishwamohan Bhatt (India).  The participants from the BSM have returned with their confidence levels boosted and their performance skills strengthened.
